Step into the spotlight and bring stories to life!

Year 10 Drama offers an exciting journey into the world of performance, creativity, and expression. In this course, you’ll master the art of stage combat with Shakespearean fight scenes, learning how to perform dynamic, choreographed duels from the Bard's most intense plays. Additionally, devise your own plays based on world creation myths, blending ancient stories with drama elements and conventions. Taking Drama will enhance your skills in communication, collaboration, and self-expression, which will serve you well in all areas of learning and life. The ability to work with others, understand different points of view, and communicate ideas and information effectively is highly valued in any future pathway.

Year 10 Drama prepares students for NCEA level 1 Drama in Year 11.

Drama opens doors to a range of exciting careers, including:

  • Actor/Performer – Star on stage, in films, or on TV.
  • Director/Producer – Create and manage theatre, film, or television productions.
  • Scriptwriter – Write plays, screenplays, or scripts for media.
  • Theatre Technician – Work in lighting, sound, or set design for live performances.
  • Drama Teacher – Inspire others by teaching drama in schools or through private instruction.
  • Other careers may include: Lawyer, Events Coordinator, Speech therapist,  Radio/TV presenter.
