Year 10 Dance is an exciting opportunity to explore movement, creativity, and cultural expression. In this course, you’ll get to choreograph your own spoken word dances, blending the power of language with the art of movement. You will learn how to create dance for the camera turning your spoken word choreographies into dance films. You'll also create dynamic performances inspired by Matariki, connecting dance with the rich traditions of Māori culture and the celebration of new beginnings. Dance isn’t just about technique – it develops confidence, teamwork, and creative problem-solving, essential skills for any career path.
Year 10 Dance prepares students for NCEA level 1 Dance in Year 11.
